Performance Tips #9: Spiderman into Hamstring Stretch

Performance Tips #9: Spiderman into Hamstring Stretch

The purpose of this exercise is to improve hip flexor and hamstring flexibility to improve performance and prevent injuries. The hip flexors is a muscle group that is made up of psoas major, illiacus, rectus femoris (central quad muscle), and the sartorius. These are main muscles that allow you to bring your knee up such as running, sprinting, and kicking. The hamstrings as well help bend the knee and conversely extend the hip. Essentially the spiderman into hamstring stretch helps loosen up the hips to promote flexibility and overall performance by relieving tightness in the hips and hamstrings that may be hindering gains in power, strength, and speed.

This is should be a main stretch for athletes, especially soccer, football, track & field, basketball, volleyball and hockey.
